Place an Order is the web-based point of sale.
On this page
- Add products to the order
- Add a custom discount
- Add a customer and assign the sale
- Check out
- Hold a shipment after the order is processed
Add products to the order
- Click Orders > Place an Order.
- Find a product by filtering on product type or using the search bar.
- Add the product to the cart. How depends on your view:
- Image view: select the product to open its details, then add it to the cart.
- List view: select +[quantity] to add it straight to the cart, or select the product name to open its details first, which is handy when you want to change the price or quantity before adding.
Once a product is in the cart, select it any time to change the price or quantity, delete it, or exclude it from a discount. Select Save to apply your changes. Discounts and packaging fees apply automatically
Add a custom discount
- Select Adjust Discount.
Note: A custom discount replaces any automatically applied discounts.
- Click Create Custom Discount.
- Choose Custom Discount, No Discount, or a discount you've already created.
- For a custom discount, set the product discount and the shipping discount, where they apply.
- Pick Standard Packaging Fee, Flat Fee, or Waived.
- Select Save.
To remove a custom discount, click Use Default Discount.
Add a customer and assign the sale
- Customer (optional): if they're already in your account, select Customer Lookup and search by name or email. Otherwise add them during checkout.
- Sold by: the sale goes to the logged-in user by default. To credit someone else, select Sold By and search by name or email.
Check out
When the cart is ready, select Checkout, then work through these screens.
- Customer details: continue as Guest where that's available, or enter the customer's name, email, phone number, and date of birth. The order confirmation and shipping details go to the email you enter here. Guest checkout isn't available if the cart includes a club membership or the order will be shipped.
- Order destination: choose Enter Address or Customer Will Pick Up. If you're shipping, select an existing address or enter a new one.
Note: A shipment can only include items that will ship. Keep tasting fees and pickup items in a separate transaction.
- Buyer information: optionally add a Gift Note or Producer Note.
- Shipping address: optionally ship to a UPS Access Point. Each option shows its address and open hours.
- Shipping class: select the shipping class. You can adjust shipping cost with a custom discount, or set a Hold Until date to ship later, for example when the customer asks you to wait or the weather isn't right.
- Credit card: select Enter Credit Card and add the card details. Clicking Save doesn't charge the card.
- Cash: select Cash to take a cash payment. The system assumes exact change. This is only available if your account accepts cash payments — email customerservice@vinoshipper.com to turn it on.
- Tip: optionally add the tip the customer wants, either one of three percentages or a custom amount. See Tip configuration to set your options.
- Charge: once the details are confirmed, select Charge in the lower right to take payment.
Hold a shipment after the order is processed
If a customer asks you to wait, or the weather isn't right, you can delay shipping on an order that's already gone through.
- Click Orders > Open Shipments.
- Select the order, click Modify Order, then Hold Until.
- Pick the date and select Save.
Note: Orders placed in Vinoshipper ship on your Vinoshipper UPS account.
