Four types of discounts
- Automatic discounts
Automatic discounts will be applied to a customer's shopping cart as soon as their order meets the criteria. - Automatic club discounts
Automatic club discounts will be applied to a club member's purchase as soon as their order meets the criteria
Club members are identified by their email address and Club Member Discounts will be applied during checkout once the customer has entered their email address. - Discount codes
Reusable codes that any customer can enter during checkout (can be used multiple times by different customers). - Individual discount codes
Unique codes that can only be used once total, by one customer (expires permanently after first use). - Custom fee

All the options are under Products > Discounts & fees.
Discount criteria
Discounts can be triggered and factored by the following options
- Audience: Choose between consumer and wholesale/trade. If wholesale/trade is chosen, the discount will be applied if you have marked their customer account as wholesale.
- Order quantity
- Minimum dollar value
- Cart type: Web/Ecommerce or Point of Sale. POS includes both the iPad/iPhone app and online Place an Order.
- Delivery type
- Effective dates
- Club members only: Can be applied to specific clubs or all clubs.
Discount incentives
Select the type of discount to apply when criteria are met
- Product discount
- Choose a percent, flat dollar amount, or dollar per unit.
- In the advanced section you can set if the discount is applied to specific products only. You can also exclude specific products to all discounts in the product set up.
IMPORTANT: Do not discount products more than 60% to ensure the order is compliant.
- Shipping discounts
- Flat rate shipping
NOTE: When using Flat Rate Shipping, the customer is charged the flat rate even if the actual shipping fee is less than the flat rate.
Example: Make all 12 bottle orders ship for $22.00. - Free shipping is paid for by you.
- Percent discount
Choose which shipping classes are covered.
Example: Order 12 bottles and save 20% off ground shipping. - Specified dollar value
Example: Order 12 bottles and save $10 off Next Day Air.
- Flat rate shipping
- Waive packaging fee
If you have set a packaging fee, you may choose to set a discount to waive this for specific orders.
Advanced features
- Discount is stackable: If selected, this discount be applied to an order in addition to any other discounts that meet the criteria.
Example: If you offer club members 10% off additional purchases and provide $10.00 off shipping of 9 or more bottles, making them both stackable means if the club member ordered 10 bottles, they would receive 10% off their full order and $10 off shipping. - Specific states: Choose specifically which states the discount applies to.
Example: You are based in CA and would like to discount shipping to surrounding states, you would add WA, OR, NV, AZ. - Specific ZIP codes: Limit the discount even further by choosing specific discounts. Add specific discounts or choose a range of discounts by entering only partial ZIP codes.
Example: Enter "954" to apply the discount to any orders going to addresses in Sonoma, Mendocino, and Lake counties (all zip codes starting in 954). - Specific products: Choose exactly which product(s) this discount applies to.
Example: If you create a "Summer White Wine Sale", you would select all white wines you would like to discount.
Custom discount code
You can create custom discounts for customers if you are placing an order for them, but know that creating a custom discount will remove any automatically applied discounts. To create a custom discount:
- When you are in Place an Order, click Adjust Discount.
- Choose Custom Discount, No Discount, or any discount that has already been created.
- If you choose Custom Discount:
- Choose the discount type (percent or dollar amount), if applicable
- Choose a shipping discount type, if applicable
- Pick Standard Packaging Fee or Custom Packaging Fee
- Click Save.
- If you choose to delete the custom discount, click Use Default Discount in the discount modal.

Tracking the use of discounts
- Reports
To easily track the use of each discount code & automatic discount, go to Reports > Additional Reports and download the Discount Performance report. - Discount lookup
Offers are stored and can be “searched for” so you can review their details. - Customer receipt
When a discount is applied, the discount name(s) will be on the receipt.
Test discounts
Once you have created a discount, test them to make sure they are applying how you had planned.
- Go to Products > Discounts & Fees and click the Test button.
- Select the audience (retail/consumer or wholesale), choose if the example person is a club member, then enter the ZIP code to which you will be shipping, order date (if your discounts is only valid for a specific time period), and discount code if you are not testing an automatic discount.
- Choose products for the test order and click Test.
- The test results gives you an estimated shipping cost and the overall estimated total breakdown, including discounts, packaging fees, CA CRV, etc.
Product catalog sales / shopping cart
Discounts are automatically applied to sales made through the Vinoshipper provided shopping cart. Every account includes, at no extra cost, a fully compliant shopping cart and club management tool.
