Mailchimp Integration with Vinoshipper

Vinoshipper integrates with Mailchimp to help producers streamline email marketing, automate campaigns, and better engage with their customers.

When you connect your Mailchimp account to Vinoshipper, customer and order information from Vinoshipper will sync into Mailchimp. This allows you to create targeted email campaigns, build customer segments, and automate marketing communication based on customer behavior.

What Data Syncs to Mailchimp

After connecting the integration, Vinoshipper will send the following information to Mailchimp.

Customer information

  • Name

  • Email address

  • Address

  • Phone number

  • Date of birth

  • Wine club memberships (current and past with join and quit dates)

Order information (from the date the integration is connected forward)

  • Orders placed through Vinoshipper

  • Products purchased

  • Abandoned carts

Product information

  • Product name

  • Price

  • Product image

  • Description

  • Link to the product page

This information can be used in Mailchimp to create personalized campaigns and targeted marketing segments.

Best Results from the Integration

The Mailchimp integration works best when most of your direct-to-consumer sales are processed through Vinoshipper. This includes:

  • E-commerce

  • Wine club

  • Point of sale

  • Wholesale orders

Running your sales through Vinoshipper allows you to maintain a more complete customer record, which improves segmentation and marketing performance in Mailchimp.

Email Marketing Best Practices

Before building campaigns, it is helpful to define your marketing goals. Examples include:

  • Growing your email subscriber list

  • Promoting new wine releases

  • Increasing tasting room visits

  • Encouraging repeat purchases

Clear goals help guide your segmentation and automation strategy.

Customer Segmentation

Segmentation helps you send more relevant emails to the right customers.

In Mailchimp, audiences can be organized using:

  • Groups – shared interests

  • Tags – behaviors or attributes

  • Segments – filtered lists based on criteria like purchase history or engagement

Common examples:

  • Frequent buyers – customers who regularly purchase certain wines

  • Local customers – great for event invitations

  • Engaged subscribers – customers who often open or click emails

  • Event guests – customers who attended your events

  • Seasonal buyers – customers who purchase during holidays

Targeted emails typically perform better than general newsletters.

Email Automation Ideas

Automation helps you stay connected with customers while saving time.

Common automated emails include:

  • Welcome series – introduce new subscribers to your winery and offer a first-purchase incentive

  • Post-purchase follow-up – thank customers and recommend wines they may enjoy next

  • Abandoned cart reminders – remind customers about items left in their cart

  • Birthday or anniversary emails – send a personalized message with a special offer

These automated emails help encourage repeat purchases and build stronger customer relationships.

Marketing Opt-In

When customers sign up for a wine club membership, they will see an option to opt in to receive marketing communications.

Customers who opt in can receive marketing campaigns sent through Mailchimp.

Customers who opt out will still receive transactional emails from Vinoshipper related to orders, wine club activity, and account notifications.

A customer’s marketing preference is visible on their customer profile within Vinoshipper.

Common Questions

Does the integration sync past orders?

Can I choose which Mailchimp audience to sync with?

What happens if a customer opts out of marketing emails?
Customers who opt out will not receive marketing campaigns through Mailchimp but will still receive transactional emails related to orders and wine club activity.

Can I disconnect Mailchimp later?
Yes. You can manage or disconnect the integration from the Account > Integrations section of your Vinoshipper account.
