Change device store

Every POS device is assigned to a Store, so orders placed on that device are grouped correctly for reporting. See Stores for more information.

Select a Store when registering a device

When you register a new device, you're prompted to select a Store, along with the device name and device location.

  1. Enter a device name and select a device location, as usual.
  2. Select the Store this device's orders should be attributed to.
  3. Tap Register Device.

Note: Store selection is separate from device location, which controls the address used for tax calculations. See Manage POS locations for how device location works.

How a device's Store assignment works

The Store you select during registration overrides the cart type assignment rule you've set for POS orders on Products > Stores. The Store you choose here is what every order placed on this device is attributed to, going forward, until you change it. For more information about default stores, click here.

This is a device-level setting, not a team member setting. If one team member changes the Store on a shared device, that Store applies to every order placed on that device afterward, including orders from any other team member who logs in with their own PIN.

Change the Store on a device

You can update a device's Store at any time, in either of two ways:

  • Go to Settings > Store, and choose the Store you want this device to use going forward.
  • From the cart, tap the More Options icon in the top right corner, tap the current Store, then choose the desired Store.

Note: This changes the Store for the entire device. Every order placed on this device uses the new Store until you change it again, so if you're switching Stores temporarily, remember to switch it back.

Change the Store on an order you've already placed

If an order was attributed to the wrong Store, you don't need to change the device setting, you can correct that individual order instead, right from the POS app.

  1. Go to Orders.
  2. Tap the order you need to update.
  3. Tap Store, then select the correct Store.
