A Store is a way to group your orders so you can report on them separately. Every account starts with one Store, and you can add more to match how you actually sell.

What a Store is
A Store isn't a physical location. It's a grouping, such as Tasting Room, Web, Events, or Club, whatever split makes sense for your business. Orders get assigned to a Store based on the cart types you assign to it, so your reports show which parts of the business are driving sales instead of lumping everything together.
Every account already has one Store, called "Store 1," and nothing changes for you until you decide to add more.
Store vs. cart type
These two are easy to mix up, so here's the difference:
- Cart type is how an order was submitted: API, Consumer (your website checkout), POS, Place an Order, or Club. This is set by the system based on where the order came from, and it doesn't change.
- Store is the bucket you group orders into for reporting. You control this, and you can change which Store an order is assigned to at any time.
Before you get started
Store 1 is your account's original, default Store. Because it's been there from day one, it already holds all of your historical orders, everything you've ever sold shows up under Store 1 until you set up additional Stores.
Changing a Store assignment only applies to orders going forward. If you assign your web cart type to a new Store today, only orders placed after it has been set move to that Store. Orders placed before today stay attributed to whichever Store they were in at the time, which for most producers is Store 1.
Tip: Don't rename Store 1 to match your first new grouping, for example "Web." If you do, all of your historical sales, across every part of your business, will appear to have come from "Web." Instead, create a new Store for that first grouping and leave Store 1 as your default, so your historical data stays accurate and your reporting is clean from the day you start using Stores.
Add a Store
- Go to Products > Stores.
- Click Add Store to create a new one. Leave "Store 1" as your default rather than renaming it, see Before you get started above.
- Give the Store a name that reflects what it represents, for example "Tasting Room" or "Harvest Party".
- Set an overall default store by clicking the star next to the Store name.
You can add as many Stores as your business needs. A single physical tasting room can be its own Store, or you can split it further, for example a "Harvest Party" Store to catch orders from a one-off event.
Assign cart types to a Store
Assign each cart type to a Store so new orders sort themselves into the right Store automatically, based on where the order came from: Consumer (web orders from your website), Club, POS, Place an Order (web-based POS), API.
- Go to Products > Stores.
- In the cart type section, click Edit.
- For each cart type, select the Store it should be assigned to.
Once this is set, you don't need to do anything else. New orders are assigned automatically.
Change the Store on an order
Assignment rules cover most orders automatically, but you can also change the Store on an order yourself, either at checkout or after the order is placed.
At checkout, in Place an Order
When you're entering an order through Place an Order, the Store field pre-fills based on your assignment rules, but you can change it for that one order before checking out. This is useful for one-off situations, for example a club member places a walk-in order in the tasting room and wants it counted as a club order for their own tracking, since it didn't go through a formal release.
On an existing order
- Go to Orders, or find the order through a customer's record.
- Open the order.
- Use the Store selector to choose the correct Store, then save.
This only changes which Store the order is grouped under for reporting. The order's cart type stays the same, since that reflects how the order was actually submitted and isn't something you can edit.
Add a brand to a Store
A Store can carry its own brand override. When it does, orders placed through that Store use that brand's name and logo in emails, instead of your account's default brand.
- Go to Products > Stores.
- Select the Store you want to update.
- Choose a brand from the dropdown.
Note: This is a different setting from assigning a brand to a product. Product-level brands control what shows on your catalog and product pages. A Store's brand override controls what shows for orders placed through that Store, regardless of which brand the product itself is assigned to. See Adding additional brands for how product-level brands work.
Attach a Store to a club
You can attach an entire club to a Store. This is useful if you want all orders from a given club, across every release, to report and brand consistently as their own group.
- Go to Clubs and select the club you want to attach to a store.
- Click the Settings tab.
- Click the edit button next to the default store.
- Select Custom Store, then choose the Store you want that club's orders assigned to.
Select a Store in the POS app
All devices default to the Store you chose in the Store set up, but you can select a different Store for a specific device.
- Select a Store when registering a new device.
- To change it later, update the Store from device settings.
Note: Store selection is separate from device location, which controls the address used for tax calculations. See Manage POS locations for how device location works.
Add Stores to your website integration
If you use the Vinoshipper Injector to embed your catalog or cart on your website, you can assign a Store to each piece of injector code. Orders placed through that embed are then attributed to the Store you chose, automatically.
This is useful if you run multiple pages or sites that should report separately, for example a main site attributed to Web, and a separate landing page for a specific sales rep or event attributed to its own Store.
- Go to Account > Integrations, then Tools > Vinoshipper Injector.
- Select the Store you want that embed's orders attributed to.
- Copy the code and add it to the page.
Where Store data shows up
Once you're using Stores, you can see the breakdown in a few places:
- The Sales History report includes a Store column on the Transactions tab.
- The Business Detail Report includes a Stores tab, with order activity and Net Product by Store.
- The Store Dashboard gives you visual breakdowns, trends, and team performance by Store.
