Tabs allow you to start and manage open orders for multiple customers, adding items over time and closing out the sale when they’re ready to pay. You can create as many tabs as necessary, assign them to team members, link a payment card at any point, and view or manage all tabs across your users, devices, and/or locations.

  • A cart is not a tab until you explicitly save it. To learn about carts, click here.
  • After saving a tab, you return to a blank cart unless you click Save + Open.

Create a tab

  1. A new tab can be created one of three ways:
    1. From an empty cart
      1. At the bottom of the empty cart, tap Create new tab.
    2. From cart with items
      1. At the bottom of the cart, tap Save to Tab.
      2. Then select Create New Tab.
    3. From the tabs list:
      1. Tap the tabs icon (rectangle with number of open tabs), next to Cart.
      2. Tap the plus (+) button in the top left corner.
  2. Name the tab.
    • The name of the tab will default to the time the transaction is created. 
    • If a credit card is added, the tab will be named the last four digits of the card.

      If a customer is added, the tab will be named the customer name.

    • Edit the name in the tab details or if the tab is open, tap on the name of the tab (in blue) underneath Cart. Click the Edit button in Tab Name, name the tab and click Save.
  3. Add a credit card if applicable. There is a chance to change the payment card before checking out.
  4. Add service notes. These are internal notes only and can be seen by all team members.


Add items to an existing tab 

There are two methods for adding items to an existing tab:

  1. From cart
    1. Add items
    2. Click Save to Tab, then select an existing tab. 
    3. To add an item and open the tab, swipe on tab to choose Add + Open. This will merge the items in the current cart with the items in the existing tab. Then the tab will open on the screen. 
  2. From tab list
    1. When you have no items in the cart, open the list of tabs by clicking on the tab icon (rectangle with number of tabs).
    2. Click the applicable tab, this will open the tab.
    3. Add items to the cart. They will be added directly to the tab.

Add a customer to tab

Looking at your cart you can add a customer to the tab two different ways. 

  1. Click on Guest Customer at the top of your cart. You can then search for an existing customer, add a new customer or scan ID. 
  2. Click on the name of the tab (in blue) under Cart. This will bring up the Edit Tab detail sheet and you can search for the customer.

Add a payment card

  1. Click on the name of the tab (in blue) under Cart. 
  2. This will bring up the Edit Tab detail modal, click Enter Card. 
  3. You can manually add the card information, Scan Card, Tap to Pay (on iPhone), use the card reader or use the card on file if a customer has been added to the tab.
  4. Click Set up. The card information will be added to the tab.

Add notes

You can add an internal note to a tab for other team members to see. This note will only be seen in the tab and will not be saved to the customer's profile. To add a note that saves to the customer profile use  Add producer note.

  1. If you are not already on the tab you want, click on Tabs (square button to the left of Cart).
  2. Click on the tab you would like to add a note to.
  3. Click on the name of the tab underneath Cart.
  4. The Edit Tab detail sheet will open, click Service Note
  5. Enter your note and click Save.

View tabs/filter

  1. Click on Tabs (square button to the left of Cart).
  2. You can see all tabs by clicking the filter button (at the top right of the tabs sheet).
  3. Filter tabs by All Tabs, My Tabs (specific to team member), On this Device and In this Location.

Change tab owner

You can change the team member the tab is associated with.

  1. Click on Tabs (square button to the left of Cart). 
  2. Click on the tab you would like to change the team member.
  3. Click on the name of the tab underneath Cart.
  4. The Edit Tab detail sheet will open, click the Edit button in Team Member.
  5. Click on the current team member's name, select the team member you would like to change to from the drop down list.
  6. Exit the Edit Tab detail sheet.

Take over tab

You can take over a tab from a separate registered device, this will also change the team member that it is associated with.

  1. Click on Tabs (square button to the left of Cart).
  2. Click the filter button (at the top right of the tabs sheet).
  3. Click All Tabs to see all open tabs across all devices.
  4. Click on the tab you would like to take over, click Take Over. This will move the tab to your device and change the team member associated with it.
  5. If the tab is still open on the previous device, they will be notified that the tab has moved. It will also specify which device it moved to.
    Note: If you click open tab, it will open the tab on your device but will not change the team member associated with it.

Delete tab

  1. Click on Tabs (square button to the left of Cart).
  2. Choose the tab you would like to delete.
  3. Click on the name of the tab underneath Cart.
  4. The Edit Tab detail sheet will open. Click Delete Tab at the bottom.
  5. Click Delete Tab to confirm this action.

Important notes

  • Swipe actions: When viewing all tabs, sightly swipe on a tab to Delete or View Details. If the tab has products in it, you will be asked to confirm the deletion. This action cannot be undone once confirmed.
  • If a tab is open, the name of the tab will be listed below Cart. If you tap on the name, you can edit the tab details.
  • Carts are lost when switching users, but preserved when re-entering same PIN. 
  • If you switch to a tab with unsaved cart items, you’ll see a warning.
  • When deleting a tab, you will have to confirm this action as it is cannot be undone.
  • There is no limit on number of tabs (cleanup after 24 hrs planned).
