Product groups

A Product Group lets you offer one product in multiple sizes, colors, or other variants — with a single listing on your catalog. Customers choose their variant from a dropdown; you manage each variant as its own product behind the scenes.

Note: Product Groups are currently available on ecommerce and the web-based Place an Order. POS support is coming soon. Club support will be added in a future update.

Before you start

Each variant needs to exist as an individual product first, and will need to go through the standard approval process before you can add it to a group.

Step 1: Create a Product Group

  1. Go to Products > Product List.
  2. Click New Product Group.
  3. Give the group a name and add an image.
Note: This image appears in your admin product list and as a fallback when an individual variant doesn't have its own image.

Step 2: Set up Attributes

Attributes define how your variants differ. Size and Color are common examples.

  1. Click Add Attribute and give it a name (e.g. Size).
  2. Add the values for that attribute (e.g. Small, Medium, Large or 375mL, 500mL, 750mL).
  3. To add another attribute, click Add Attribute again and repeat (e.g. A second attribute named Color with values Blue, Grey, Pink).

Step 3: Map your Variants

Variants are where you connect your attributes to the individual products you already created.

  1. Choose which attribute to group by when assigning products.
  2. For each variant combination, type the product name, SKU, or product ID — or click the product icon to the right of the search bar to browse your full product list.
  3. Set your default variant by clicking the star icon. This is what customers see first when they land on the product.
Note: The default variant also determines the image shown on your main product catalog.
  4. If a combination doesn't exist (e.g. no Grey 2XL), leave it unlinked. It will show as Unavailable combination to customers.

Managing linked products

  • Swap a linked product: Click the link icon, then search for the replacement.
  • Remove a linked product: Click the X icon.

Step 4: Manage catalog visibility

Once your Product Group is saved, it appears in your product list and on your main product catalog alongside the individual products it contains. To hide the individual projects:

  1. Open each product.
  2. Toggle Hide on Main Catalog.
Note: This only hides the product from your main catalog. It will stay visible in any custom catalogs where it has been added.

Step 5: Update your product catalog code

Your website's product catalog code needs to be updated before your Product Group will appear on your site.

  1. Go to Account > Integrations > Vinoshipper Injector.
  2. Under Product Catalog, select your catalog and layout type.
  3. Copy the generated code.
  4. On your website, replace your existing product catalog code with the new code.
Note: The exact code will vary depending on your catalog and layout selection, but will look something like<div class="vs-products-v2"></div>
